crochet chalk cliff blanket

The past few months I worked on a new crochet design for Fonty, which is a French wool company from Creuse. I am happy to introduce my newest design, the chalk cliff blanket. It is a perfect lap blanket for chilly summer evenings, it is very lightweighted because of the mix with merino sheep wool and cotton. If you have a baby or toddler it is perfectly suitable to use the blanket as a baby blanket as well.

Note: the pattern is written in US terms. I used a crochet 3mm hook and 12 balls of Merico Fonty wool. You will also need scissors and a needle.
The pattern:
The blanket measures around 90cmx125cm (35,5x49 inch). You can adjust the measurements by casting on less or more stitches. Make sure your cast on will be an odd number of stitches!
Start with a chain of 203 stitches.
R1: Crochet 1dc in the 4th chain from hook. Crochet 1dc in each chain stitch. Turn around.
R2: Chain 3, 1dc in the first dc from hook. *Ch1, skip 1, dc1. Ch1, skip 1, dc1 * until the end of the row. Crochet 1dc in the last stitch of the row. Turn around.
R3: Chain 3, crochet 1dc in each dc of the next row. You also need to crochet one dc around each chain stitch of the previous row.
R4: Chain 3, repeat row 2, turn around
R5: Chain 3, repeat row 3, turn around.
Repeat row 4 and 5 until your blanket has the right measurements. Use the wool scraps to crochet a single crochet edge around the blanket.
Bind off, weave in ends.
Enjoy using your lovely soft blanket.
